Visit our booth at the Maryland Department of Natural Resources’ 11th annual National Hunting and Fishing Day, Saturday, September 23, 2017.


The program consists of one full day in the field at: Washington County Izaak Walton League of Maryland, located in Clear Spring, MD in Washington County on September 23rd, 2017. This will be an open house format starting from 10:00am to 4:00pm. Admission is free to the public. The day’s activities are designed to get individuals and families outdoors and acquaint them with the areas unique natural resources, to promote traditional outdoor sports and conservation. This event will inform and educate the public about a variety of conservation groups they could become involved and active in. Outdoor recreation is an important part of our Nation’s Heritage and we hope to show a lot of what our state has to offer. This will be the Maryland Association for Wildlife Conservation (MAWC)’s third year, participating in this fun and informative event!

Highlights will include a variety of exhibits and events that showcase ways people interact and have interacted with wildlife both from an historical and modern point of view. Visitors can learn about shooting sports as well as fishing techniques. Children and adults can enjoy spin casting, archery, and target shooting on the grounds with skilled instructors. Various conservation groups and wildlife artisans will be on hand and demonstrations focused on Maryland’s natural resources will be available. These event activities include learning about fishing, boating, hunting, shooting and archery instructions, sporting dog demonstrations, hunting and boat safety programs, wildlife artists and decoy carvers, taxidermy, wildlife management demonstrations, and many more.
